Six miles to the west is the ancient Stannary Town of Tavistock. The City of Plymouth is about twelve miles to the southwest.

There are many lovely walks in the area. One of the most popular of which follows the route of the old railway track to Princetown, where the famous Dartmoor prison is situated.

The county of Devon has everything that the holidaymaker could wish for. Within a few miles of Dartmoor can be found the cities of Plymouth and Exeter. The nearby coast has a variety of attractions from large resorts such as Torquay to small fishing ports and miles of secluded beaches and coves. There are ample fishing, surfing, walking and shopping opportunities within a twenty-mile radius of the farm. Eggworthy will make an ideal base for your exploration of Glorious Devon.

Dartmoor:

Dartmoor is an ancient and rugged landscape which shows signs of settlement since the iron age, dotted about its magnificent tor capped hills are many hut circles dating back thousands of years.

The intrepid walker will find monumental stone circles erected in the mists of time, the purpose of which can only be guessed at now. The moor is divided into “commons” with grazing rights allocated to local farms. There are no fenced boundaries, just the occasional dry stonewall or Devon Bank.
